PhD University of Cambridge, with a thesis on Abraham Ibn Ezra's exegesis of Isaiah 40–66; earlier a first-class MA in Mathematics and Hebrew Studies and an MPhil in Old Testament Studies, both at Cambridge. Research Associate at the Genizah Research Unit, Cambridge University Library, where he works on the Bible fragments and Masoretic materials of the Cairo Genizah, and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Hebrew Bible Manuscript Research; he also teaches Biblical Hebrew as an Affiliated Lecturer in the University's Faculty of Divinity. His research on the Masorah has identified further Bible manuscripts written by Samuel ben Jacob, the scribe of the Leningrad Codex — among them the Former Prophets codex L17 (Tyndale Bulletin, 2017).
